Several varieties of positioning module are available for servo or stepper motor applications - single, double and triple axis modules are available.

Remote I/O

Two different remote I/O systems are available - MINI-NET and I/O LINK.

MINI-NET is a high speed twisted pair data ring, 1.5 MBaud, which is capable of handling 512 I/O per data ring. Up to 8 master modules can be controlled by a single AnS PLC CPU. Remote I/O modules are available from 8 to 128 I/O in a single package - all types of input and output card have remote I/O counterparts. Analog input, analog output, RTD and Thermocouple input cards are available, as well. Maximum distance between stations is 100 meters for twisted pair connections, with much greater distances available using coaxial cable. Overall loop size is unlimited, and data repeaters are available for long distance connections.

I/O LINK is a smaller, less expensive remote I/O system. A single twisted pair data bus links remote I/O units at 38,400 Baud, with up to 128 I/O on a single twisted pair bus. Units may be connected electrically in any pattern, with a maximum distance from the base rack of 200 meters. No PLC program support is required, as remote I/O appears to the ladder program as if it were located on the PLC main rack. I/O LINK remote modules are available in 2, 4, and 8 input or output packages as well as 4 in/4 out packages. Inputs are 24 Volt DC, sink or source type, outputs are NPN transistor or relay. The I/O modules are very small - a 4 point input or output block is smaller than your fist (2 or 3 of them will fit in a 3 1/2" floppy disk box.)

Networking
PLC to PLC networking is available, using twisted pair or coaxial cable connections. 1 MBaud and 10 MBaud links are available, allowing data exchange among 64 PLC's on a single network, with up to 64 networks linked together into a factory-wide automation system. PLC data can be accessed over the network by communications modules, allowing operator interface terminals to display and control PLC's at remote locations.
